On the 13th of March, I was delighted to be asked to talk to the 2nd year student nurses studying Radiotherapy.I was asked to talk about the different types of wigs, head wear, hair and scalp products and colouring that we provide for women undergoing and have finished radiotherapy.
I also talked about the affects and side effects of hair loss both psychologically and physically, the practical issues that arise and our approach and tips that I give to my clients. I informed the students about hair re growth after treatment and especially about colouring during and after radiotherapy. But also my role as a wig consultant, which is to prepare my client and provide skills for managing their anticipation, emotions and appearance of hair loss. Also to enhance feeling of taking control of their hair loss from the very beginning, through treatment and after treatment when hair re growth occurs.
I had great feed back by all and I would like to thank everyone at the Trinity Center of Health and Science for a great day.
