GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR TYPES OF HAIR LOSS

 

HSE MEDICAL CARD ASSISTANCE

Clients with an HSE MEDICAL CARD may be eligible for an allowance towards the cost of their wig/topper.  The process can take up to 2 months to complete so please have the following documentation with you on the day of your appointment:

• A letter from your GP / Consultant / Dermatologist or hospital stating you have Alopecia or are undergoing chemotherapy and need a wig.
• Your medical card number.

You are allowed ONE wig per calendar year, a new letter from your GP / Consultant must be provided every year.

We can apply for this allowance on your behalf.

Without this information, we cannot apply for the grant on your behalf nor confirm the benefit total due to you.  You will be able to apply for the grant separately.

Please note that within each HSE area, Grant allowances vary.

 

PRIVATE INSURANCE ASSISTANCE

Each Private Insurance company varies in their allowances, please contact your provider to confirm their coverage and process. It is helpful if you have this information before your appointment. To date, private insurance only covers patients with hair loss undergoing chemotherapy/ radiotherapy.

If you have AVIVA Private Insurance and have Alopecia, please check with your policy as you may be eligible for an allowance towards the cost of your wig.

 

PPSN GRANT

The PPSN, Hair replacement Scheme will cover up to €500 per annum towards the cost of your wig /topper.

Each year requires a new form to be filled out by your GP /  dermatologist/consultant.

Please download the 2 forms below and have both filled out before your appointment with us. Please ensure your medical practitioner fills in the type and cause of your Alopecia. We cannot access your grant without these forms filled in correctly.

You can combine your PRSI Wig Grant & HSE Medical Card Grant.

If the wig/topper exceeds the HSE grant you can use the PRSI Wig Grant to pay the balance.
