Are you eligible for a grant towards the cost of your wig or hair topper?

Who is eligible for the HSE WIG GRANT and PRSI HAIR GRANT?

HSE Medical Card Assistance

If you have an HSE Medical Card you may be eligible for an allowance towards the cost of your wig/topper.

All we need is your valid medical card number along with a prescription from your GP / consultant or dermatologist, stating that you require a wig or hair topper for medical hair loss due to alopecia or cancer treatment.

Prescriptions can be given to us directly at the time of your appointment. If you need to send it to us you, your doctor, or hospital nurse can send the prescription to us any of these ways:

  • Email: info@snipswigs.ie

  • Post: Snips Wigs, Suite 5, The Avenue, Beacon Court, Sandyford, Dublin 18

We will take care of processing your application on your behalf, so you do not have to worry about anything

Please note that within each HSE area, grant allowances vary from €440 - €767.

Private Health Insurance Cover

Before your consultation with us, we recommend that you contact your insurance company to verify what cover you have, and what paperwork they require you to submit for reimbursement, following your purchase.

All insurance companies cover from 50% - 100%. However, your policy and policy excess will vary.

How it works is you simply pay us directly, and then we give you a receipt confirming this purchase. You will need to submit this, along with any other documentation your insurer may need to process your claim, e.g., a medical prescription. (Your insurance company will inform you exactly what they need from you).

If your claim is successfully processed, your insurance company will reimburse you directly
